A little on our history.

Compliance Check was created by Don Brown while working for Wallace, Welch & Willingham, a large independent insurance agency in St. Petersburg, FL.

Don began his insurance career in 1977 with Metropolitan Life in Indiana as a life insurance agent.  During his time at Metropolitan, he was on the Company’s speaking tour addressing Metropolitan District offices across the state.

In 1982, Don became an independent insurance agent with Wallace, Welch & Willingham Insurance Agency (WWW); one of the largest insurance agencies in the Tampa Bay area. During his tenure at WWW, he served as Personal Lines Division Manager, Employee Benefits Division Manager, and Commercial Lines Sales Manager, and became a partner at Wallace, Welch & Willingham in 1992. Some of his duties included hiring, training, and employee development.

He received his Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) Designation in 1990 and was asked by the Florida Professional Insurance Agents Association to become an instructor at the CIC Institute. In addition, he was asked to instruct prospective insurance agents in preparation for their licensing examination.

From 1992- 2001, Don took on the roll of hiring and training agents to service medium to large size accounts in Property & Casualty and Employee Benefit coverage areas. His ownership and management responsibilities exposed him to various federal laws regarding employment issues such as FMLA, I-9's,  & FLSA, just to name a few. Realizing how important these regulations were to businesses and companies, Don became immersed in this area of study.  Many of his insurance clients showed great interest in these areas and therefore he began sharing risk management strategies regarding these HR issues with Employers through seminars and workshops.

Through further training and extensive self-study of Federal Regulations, Don developed a Risk Management Program called Compliance Check.  Compliance Check is a program that trains insurance agents to work with Owners, HR Managers, and Employees in Risk Management policies and procedures and how they relate to their insurance program.

By 2002, Compliance Check had grown into a very successful program. As a result, Don chose to retire from WWW and devote his full attention to Compliance Check and its continued growth and development.  Since that time, he has trained over 1000 insurance agents from over 150 agencies in 40 states.  Additionally, he has consistently held over 120 public seminars each year since 2002 with a high point of 180 seminars within a single year.

Today, Don and his staff at Compliance Check are devoted to helping agents all across the country become more successful through their use of the Compliance Check program.  Compliance Check staff regularly work in the field with agents to maintain a connection with the real world application of the Compliance Check program.  Everything we teach, we have done in the field with real agency clients and prospects.
